THE SUNPUNCHERS TO RELEASE FIRST FULL LENGTH ALBUM MAY 20TH: TWO SONGS AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE LISTENING
The Sunpunchers are scheduled to release their first full length album Levity at The Newton’s community room on May 20th 2017, with The Jon Rauhouse Combo. Arizona Hi Fi will host a listening party for Levity on May 19th from 6-8pm.The nine song album, written and produced by the band, features songs expressing sounds that range from the dangers of intimacy to ouija board swamp séance’s. The Phoenix New Times declared the band “relentlessly soulful” and music blog YabYum wrote in their review of first EP Honey that “the sound The Sunpunchers have captured is mesmerizing”. Two years in the making and personnel changes later, the release of “Levity” comes with a collective “phew” and the grateful satisfaction of an honest day’s work. Now available on the group's bandcamp www.thesunpunchers.bandcamp.com are two select songs from the album, ready for streaming or purchase. “Screwtop Head” features contemplative lyricism and the deficit of attention, juxtaposed by an open landscape of rich and unmistakably Southwestern loneliness. “Levity” the title track of the album, features a bedrock of stumbling rhythms and sliding textures to support the ache for well being.
The full record will be released May 20th, 2017. The Sunpunchers will highlight a different song from the album each month after release, with a percentage of proceeds from downloads going to great local charities that support individuals experiencing homelessness and empower youth.
